Physical Criteria
1. Rate of hydration depends on fineness of cement which affects the development of strength
2. Consist of pure silica, non-crystalline form is highly cellular, very small particles, high specific surface
3. Rice husk ash particles should not be very fine to develop pozzolanic activities.
4. Rate of hydration of RHA is very important to predict its strength development
5. RHA as admixture in cement accelerates the setting time through water absorption from surrounding
6. Slow reactivity because of lower cement content
Physical Properties
· Ability to withstand internal stresses generated during cement hydration , without cracking
Expansion could result in disruption hardened cement paste
· Expansion due to reactions of free lime, magnesia and calcium sulphate can cause slow hydration
Chemical Properties
· Contains of cellulose 40-50 percent, lignin 25-30 percent, ash 15-20 percent and moisture 8-15 percent
· No other plant except paddy husk is able to retain such a huge proportion of silica in it .
Temperature - 550'c - 800'C amorphous silica is formed but at a higher temperatures crystalline silica is produced

In case Of Hardened Concrete
· The compressive strength is lower than the normal concrete
· Indirect Tensile Strength is higher than normal concrete
· Modulus Of Elasticity is similar than concrete containing cement only
